Miller Family Message by Gail Miller
With Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season around the corner, we have the opportunity to pause and reflect on all the things we are thankful for in our lives, as well as recognize and appreciate all the good things that are still available to us in this crazy world. While this year has been one for the history books and not what most of us could have imagined or predicted, I believe we continue to have many things to be grateful for.
In today’s climate of COVID-19, social unrest, and social media, we often get pulled into focusing on the negatives rather than the positives. If you find you are struggling to recognize gratitude in your life right now, the frustration and uncertainty of this year may be contributing to the reason. However, I would like to suggest there are many ways to practice gratitude that will help you find hope in today and joy in the future.
“A friend of mine once said, ‘Trade your expectations for appreciation.’ That simple idea helps me find what’s good and beautiful in life, even when it’s painful and difficult.”

I believe one of the best ways to feel thankful for what you have is to give of yourself through service. Over the course of my lifetime, I have learned that serving others is essential to true happiness. As John F. Kennedy stated, “as we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” If you have a serving heart, you will never lack for opportunities to serve and the blessings you reap from giving of yourself will come back many times over.
“At this time of the year, when our thoughts and hearts reflect on gratitude and thanksgiving for family and the freedoms and blessings we enjoy in this great country, I am also grateful for all those who share their time, talents, and energy every day to make us better. Thank you for lifting our communities and serving our company.”

If there is one lesson we can learn from this year, I would hope it would be to recognize our blessings and not take anything for granted. Let’s use our energy to appreciate the small things like a beautiful fall day or a conversation with a friend or loved one and the miracle of modern technology that allows us to stay connected. Having the ability to find things to be grateful for while facing challenges can help increase our happiness and be beneficial to our mental health. Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life and makes what you have enough and more.
I am extremely grateful for each of you. This year, I’ve had numerous occasions to pause and reflect on the commitments and amazing contributions each of you have made on a daily basis as we have confronted the disruptions of the pandemic and the challenges of doing business remotely while juggling family and other responsibilities. You are amazing! My heartfelt appreciation for each of you is greater than any words can describe. May this Holiday Season be joyous and rewarding and may you be blessed with comfort and joy. Thank you for all you do. Please have a happy Holiday Season!
“As I reflect on 2020 and all the hurdles we have faced, I continue to feel blessed and grateful for each of the individuals who make up the Larry H. Miller Group and the efforts you all bring each day. Thanksgiving is a time of year that we can all enjoy with our loved ones and count our blessings, and I can’t be more grateful for you all. THANK YOU!”
