Growing Local Techs

LHM Dealerships Helps Drive Ford Automotive Service Technician Recruitment

Launched in May 2018, the Ford TechDrive Automotive Service Technician Recruitment program is Ford’s response to a growing need for skilled automotive service technicians across the automotive industry. Ford dealers build relationships with their local automotive schools and communities to grow students into experienced technicians. Celebrating over a year of successes and 3,300 new recruits logged, TechDrive held a hundred recognition events across the country throughout the month of October 2019.

One stop along their route was an event held on November 4, in partnership with program sponsor Larry H. Miller Ford Lincoln Draper, at Mountainland Technical College. Students currently enrolled in the program were provided with gifts, and much of the friendly talk during the event was about personal achievements and growth during the program. Leaders also announced the 2020 program initiatives that will carry the success and momentum into new lives this year.

“We are so proud to be a part of the Ford ACE program TechDrive program,” said Dan Johnson, vice president of fixed operations, Larry H. Miller Dealerships. “This grassroots initiative has not only helped the participating students you see here today, but [has] raised awareness of technical careers among many other youth in the community, as well through events like this and increased exposure to what it means to be an automotive service technician.”
