Your “Give Us Five” Donations at Work

A Glance at LHM Charities at Work in November and December

Larry H. Miller Charities donates to 501(c)(3) nonprofits that assist women and children who live in the communities where we work, with an emphasis on the issues of health and education. Nearly $450,000 was contributed in November and December of 2019. For a full list of organizations receiving support, see the sidebar that accompanies this article. Highlights are listed below.

In California, a donation to Pacific Lifeline in San Bernardino assisted a homeless shelter for women and children, while funding in Lemon Grove supported the Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Contributions in Boulder, Colorado, went to Camp for Change and Longmont Meals on Wheels. A donation to the Denver Santa Claus Shop provided Christmas to children in need. Other Denver grants went to Brent’s Place and The Action Center.

Idaho Youth Ranch in Boise, Idaho, received funds for an equine-assisted therapy program that benefits at-risk youth. A donation to Generation Alive in Spokane, Washington, supported a program that involves students in community service.

In Phoenix, Arizona, a contribution to Brighter Way Institute enabled low-income children to receive dental care, and a grant to Folds of Honor provided scholarships to children and spouses of Arizona’s fallen military members. A donation to Chrysalis and Eve’s Place assisted domestic violence victims. In Tucson, support for a Shop With a Cop program provided Christmas to kids of low-income households, and Literacy Connects and Emerge Center Against Domestic Abuse received funding as well.

New Mexico contributions to the Barrett Foundation and New Mexico Dream Center assisted the homeless, and a grant to Assistance League of Albuquerque provided school clothes to needy students. Ronald McDonald House, the New Mexico School for the Blind, and other charities also received support.

In Utah, a contribution to Kids Who Count delivered mental health support to families of special needs children, and a donation to Cars That Care provided vehicles to single mothers and needy families. Assistance League of Salt Lake City received funds for Operation Healthy Teeth, and a contribution to the University of Utah Moran Eye Center improved Navajo Nation pediatric eye exams. Numerous other worthy charities received donations as well.
