August Donations –
Grants from Larry H. Miller (LHM) Charities are given to 501(c)(3) nonprofits that improve the lives of women and children who live in the communities where our Miller companies are based. Contributions are focused on charitable programs that address the issues of health and education, and donations from LHM employees help make it all possible.
In Phoenix, Arizona, a contribution to Florence Crittenton Services is supporting a wellness program for girls who struggle with trauma, addiction, abuse, or behavior problems. Valley of the Sun YMCA received a grant for emergency childcare, preschool, and meal programs being offered to healthcare workers, first responders, and those unable to work from home during the COVID-19 crisis.
In Spokane, Washington, a donation to Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington is providing household essentials to homeless families as they transition out of St. Margaret’s shelter into more permanent housing. A grant to Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery is helping families who need assistance with diapers and baby wipes, while a contribution to Wishing Star Foundation is allowing families with medically fragile children to access COVID-19 hygiene kits and medical supplies. LHM Charities is also supporting Joya Child & Family Development in its efforts to provide special education services to 3-year-olds.
In Utah, child abuse victims and their families are benefiting from therapy made possible through a donation from LHM Charities to Friends of the Utah County Children’s Justice Center. A contribution to Washington County School District Education Foundation is enabling educators to apply for grants toward teaching and classroom supplies. Funds supplied to Operation Warm will provide coats to underprivileged kids this fall, and a contribution to Salt Lake Donated Dental Services will offer dental care to low-income children. A donation to Chabad Lubavitch of Utah is supporting Project H.E.A.R.T., a program that provides mentoring for Jewish youth who are struggling.
The Family Place received funding for its crisis nursery and children’s shelter in Logan, Utah. Citizens Against Physical and Sexual Abuse (CAPSA), which has seen an increase in domestic violence during the COVID-19 crisis, was granted a donation toward therapy for victims. A contribution to Give Me A Chance is helping low-income women learn work skills and providing an after-school program for underprivileged children. Other Utah charities receiving support include: Primary Children’s Hospital, Ability Found, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, Family Counseling Service of Northern Utah, Guadalupe School, Jewish Community Center, and Youth Sports Alliance.
We are grateful to the many employees whose contributions enable Larry H. Miller Charities to fulfill its mission of helping women and children in need!
