This year has been a difficult one as we continue to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Working from home, social distancing from family and friends, homeschooling and other challenges might have brought to light feelings and concerns that we may not have noticed previously. Every one of our employees is a valuable member to the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, and we care about your well-being.
It is imperative for you to check in with yourself frequently to evaluate your overall health. Your health is not just the physical aspect; it also encompasses your mind and spirit. It is not selfish to put your well-being first. Finding healthy ways to cope during this pandemic ensures that you can be your best self.
Check in and gauge your emotional health:
- Are you having mood swings?
- Have you had changes in your sleep or eating patterns?
- Are you having difficulty sleeping or concentrating?
- Do you have health problems that have worsened during this time?
- Do you have mental health conditions that have worsened?
- Have you increased the use of tobacco and/or alcohol or other substances?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, below are some tips on how to handle stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle:
- Get a good night’s sleep
- Eat well-balanced meals
- Exercise daily
- Take meaningful and planned breaks during the workday
- Connect with others (phone calls, facetime, texts, zooms or social distanced outings)
- Manage stress through deep breaths, mediation, stretching, yoga, etc.
- Make time to unwind and focus on self-care
- Set boundaries. Don’t let the pandemic take over your thoughts, media feeds and/or conversations.
