LHM Charities Update for April/May/June

Larry H. Miller (LHM) Charities focuses its giving on nonprofits that help women and children in the communities where the Larry H. Miller Company conducts business. Programs that address health and education issues are of particular interest. In recent months, more than $250,000 has been contributed and many lives enriched.

In Colorado, a contribution from LHM Charities to YMCA of Northern Colorado is enabling children impacted by the Marshall Fire disaster to attend day camp free of charge. A donation to STRIDE Community Health Center is providing free mammogram screenings to uninsured women. A grant to Colorado Pet Pantry is feeding pets and keeping them out of shelters; pet owners receiving assistance are predominantly women and children in need.

Funding contributed to the Idaho Anti-Trafficking Coalition is supporting a crisis and resource hotline that connects sex trafficking victims to caseworkers who offer help and refer them to partner agencies. The donation also supports outreach and education efforts to ensure victims and survivors continue to receive care.

In New Mexico, a contribution to the American Diabetes Association is sponsoring Camp 180, a summer camp for children with diabetes. A donation to Care Net Pregnancy Resource Center is supplying diaper changing kits to law enforcement for use in situations they encounter. A grant to the Santa Fe Community Foundation for the All Together NM Fund is assisting victims of wildfires. HopeWorks received a grant to help the homeless, and a contribution to Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation will improve equipment and services for children served by the hospital.

LHM Charities donations in Utah are supporting a variety of programs. A contribution to the Assistance League of Southern Utah and Operation School Bell is providing school clothes to low-income students. Kids in foster care are benefiting from care bags supplied by Little Lambs Foundation for Kids. Support for on-call nurses who provide rape and domestic violence forensic exams was provided to Wasatch Forensic Nurses. A donation to NeighborWorks Salt Lake is helping at-risk youth learn life skills and prepare for employment.

Underserved children in Utah are gaining access to outdoor spaces and recreation via a grant to Summit Land Conservancy. Summer camp opportunities are also being offered to Utah youth with diabetes (American Diabetes Association Rocky Mountain), youth in foster care (Mountain View Christian Assembly/Royal Family Kids Camp), and youth with cancer and their siblings (Camp Hobé).

Utah children are experiencing the arts through scholarship support provided to Kayenta Arts Academy and through a donation to Saltaires Chorus for Youth Harmony Day, a collaborative singing event for local high school students. A grant to Plan-B Theatre Company will fund an educational play performed at elementary schools throughout the state. Employee Give Us Five donations help Larry H. Miller Charities continue its work of enriching the lives of women and children who live in communities where Miller companies are located. Thank you to the many employees of the Larry H. Miller Company whose voluntary contributions are making a difference!
