The Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano erupted on January 15, 2022, and a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck near Tonga on January 27, 2022. These two events left the country and its residents in need of food, clean water and essential hygiene products.
Sione Tukuafu, Helpdesk Tier II at the Larry H. Miller Company, has immediate family living in Tonga who were directly affected by these devastating natural disasters.
The Larry H. Miller Company sponsored a donation drive organized by Sione. Employees at the Jordan Commons Campus gathered non-perishable food items, bottled water and hygiene products.
“It meant a great deal to be surrounded by individuals who are supportive at work and in my personal life. Every act of love and kindness that I received from my coworkers was pure joy for my family and me, knowing they could rebuild and survive the unfortunate event that hit home. The Larry H. Miller Company’s mission to enrich lives and to go about doing good is universal, even to my tiny island Kingdom of Tonga. From my family and me, we thank you indeed,” said Sione.
A crate filled with donations arrived in Tonga on April 25, 2022. Sione’s family has expressed their sincere gratitude for the contributions they received.
