ANNOUNCEMENTS—October 2020

 

September 4, 2020 – Sixth-graders Emma Peterson and Kapri Peterson from Carden Memorial School in Salt Lake City won the NBA Math Hoops National Championship, representing the Utah Jazz during the competition that encourages students to learn fundamental math skills through the game of basketball.

September 8, 2020 – Larry H. Miller Hyundai Peoria received the Hyundai Board of Excellence award for 2020. This honor, the highest a Hyundai dealership can receive, recognizes the top-performing dealers for their achievements in sales and customer experience.

September 8, 2020 – The NBA announced that Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert was named to the 2019-20 All-NBA Defensive First Team. It is the fourth time that he has garnered All-NBA Defensive First Team accolades after being voted to the squad in every season since 2016-17.

September 10, 2020 – Representatives from Larry H. Miller Colorado Jeep presented a check for $10,000 to The Joshua School for the purchase of iPads and laptops to support students and teachers in the current remote-learning environment.

September 17, 2020 – Utah Foundation held its annual luncheon in conjunction with its 75th Anniversary Celebration on September 17, 2020. As part of the celebration, Gail Miller was presented with the organization’s 2020 Insight Award. 

September 22, 2020 – Utah Jazz players encouraged fans to register to vote, making sure voters knew where and when to register and making individual statements about the importance of voting.

September 25, 2020 – The Utah Jazz added Dell Demps and Keyon Dooling to their coaching staff. Demps is a former player and coach who was most recently working with the New Orleans Pelicans. Dooling is also a former player who was most recently the wellness counselor and mental health advocate for the Nation Basketball Players Association.

October 1, 2020 – Gail Miller received a leadership award from Utah Business Magazine and Living Color Utah at their annual gala for her contributions to diversity and the community.

October 5, 2020 – Rich Hyde, a longtime employee of Prestige Financial Services, was named as president of Prestige. Hyde had served as COO of Prestige and as a member of various boards and organizations related to the financial and automotive industries. Hyde replaced Dave Smith, who had served as interim president following the retirement of longtime president Bryant Henrie.
