December Donations –
In a year full of unprecedented challenges, the generosity of Larry H. Miller (LHM) Group employees has enabled LHM Charities to continue enriching lives and assisting those in need. Through your support, donations are helping 501(c)(3) nonprofit charities that serve women and children in our communities, especially in the areas of health and education.
LHM Charities recognizes that many children and families are struggling during the holidays and is working to make a difference. In Utah, Sub for Santa funding has been contributed to 14 school district foundations so that low-income students can receive not just toys, but coats, clothes, shoes, socks and other essential items. In addition, a donation was made to KONY Coins for Kids, a nonprofit that provides Christmas to underprivileged children in Washington County, Utah. Other charities receiving support include Salvation Army Metro Phoenix (Christmas Angel program), Boulder County Share-A-Gift (toys for underserved kids), Joyful Journeys Community Enrichment in Denver (Adams County Santa Shop), and Salvation Army in San Diego (Christmas Angel program and food for needy families).
In Arizona, dealerships participated in 10 Days of Giving, an initiative where 10 Phoenix-area charities and six Tucson charities received grants from LHM Charities. In Colorado, Denver-area dealerships and LHM Toyota Boulder collaborated on a Five Days of Giving initiative, where local nonprofits were surprised with donations. Charities that benefited are listed in the sidebar accompanying this article and details are provided in articles located in the newsroom section of Winning Spirit.
In California, homeless female veterans will receive backpacks of supplies via a donation to the Corona chapter of Blue Star Mothers of America. Funding was also contributed to Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation in San Diego.
A grant to Jesse Tree in Boise, Idaho, is offering emergency rent assistance, while a donation to Second Chance Ranch in Spokane, Washington, is supporting equine-assisted psychotherapy for children, teens and women.
In Utah, a contribution to Rape Recovery Center is funding sexual assault prevention programs for teens and college students. A donation to Rural Senior Adult Services is providing companionship to homebound seniors, and a grant to Salt Lake Acting Company is helping an arts enrichment program that benefits Title I elementary schools. A contribution to the nonprofit Learn Fresh Education Co. is supporting Math Hoops, a Utah Jazz community relations program that enables students to improve math skills. Funding was also provided to Utah Recreation & Parks Association to help low-income youth participate in Junior Jazz basketball, and to support the Junior Jazz Lead Together program, which develops sportsmanship in youth.
Thank you to the many employees whose donations to LHM Charities have enabled us to enrich our communities and provide hope and help to women and children this holiday season. We are filled with gratitude for your ongoing support!
RISE Literacy Center offers tutoring to struggling readers, many of whom are from underprivileged circumstances. A donation from Larry H. Miller Charities went toward tutoring scholarships. Funding granted to Bad Dog Arts is allowing underprivileged youth in Utah to participate in virtual or on-site art classes. A contribution was also made to The Happy Factory, a nonprofit that uses scrap hardwood and volunteer labor to build simple wooden toys that are donated to underprivileged or needy children around the world. In Utah, these toys are contributed to local children’s hospitals and shelters. Other donations include grants made to the Family Support Center of Southwestern Utah and the Anti-Bullying Coalition/Stand for Kind.
We thank those whose support of LHM Charities enables us to “go about doing good” in our communities. Together we are making a difference in many lives!
