Announcements – March/April 2022

March 12, 2022—Utah First Lady’s ‘Show Up’ initiative teamed up with the LHM Company to send letters and cards to Ukrainian refugee children. Thousands of letters and cards were included in a shipment of goods through the Larry H. Miller Company’s Driven to Assist program, which is collecting money and donations to send to Ukrainian refugees who have fled or are fleeing the country.

March 17, 2022—Utah Gov. Spencer Cox named 13 community members to an executive team charged with creating a framework for the One Utah Health Collaborative, an effort to reduce health care costs and improve equitable health outcomes which the governor launched last November. Members of the organizing committee include Amanda Covington, chief corporate affairs officer, the Larry H. Miller Company.

March 17, 2022—The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation gifted $2.5 million to Utah State University for the construction of a new experiential learning building for the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business. The donation adds to the over $4 million previously donated to the school by the Miller Family Foundation in support of its programs and facilities.

March 20, 2022—Ski Utah, state agencies and local and national businesses teamed together on a new initiative, Discover Winter, to increase the participation of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) individuals in winter sports with generous funding through a CARES Act grant from the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation.

March 26, 2022W. Steve Albrecht was recognized by Private Company Director as a “Director to Watch.” Albrecht has served on both public and private company boards. He has chaired the audit committee on all boards he has been on and has been lead director and board chair. He currently is the lead independent director on the board of the Larry H. Miller Company and serves on the boards of SkyWest Airlines, OYO Rooms, DMBA Corporation, and Swvl.

March 30, 2022—The Larry H. and Gail Miller Center for Entrepreneurship at Southern Utah University raised $2 million as part of a matching campaign in partnership with the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation, which made a matching gift of $2.1 million to the program. The recent contributions are part of a longstanding commitment by the Miller Foundation to the University’s Entrepreneurship Center that began with a $1.5 million gift to build a meeting space for entrepreneurs. In total, the Larry H. & Gail Miller Foundation has contributed $3.6 million to entrepreneurship at SUU.

April 12, 2022—The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation and the Andrus Family Foundation pledged $2 million to put period product dispensers Utah school bathrooms to address an important and overlooked community need. The Utah Legistlature passed H.B. 162 and recognized the foundations’ work and contributions to bring the issue to light.

April 13, 2022Utah Business Magazine named Sarah Starkey, chief legal officer with the Larry H. Miller Company, as one of its 2022 Corporate Counsel Honorees and Legal Elite. As in-house counsel, attorneys have the opportunity to become fully integrated with their companies—developing short-term goals and long-term strategies.

April 13, 2022—Plans for a new town near Hoytsville received high praise at a recent Summit County Council meeting, even from officials who oppose growth. In recent months, large homebuilders related to Ivory Homes and Larry H. Miller Real Estate have consolidated holdings in the area, officials have said. But they say the idea remains the same: to plan for growth now to protect what the community values, like open space and water quality.

April 22, 2022Salt Lake Bees pitcher César Valdez was named Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week. Valdez is the first award winner of the season for Salt Lake.

April 22, 2022Larry H. Miller Real Estate (LHMRE) announced it will be involved with Governor Cox’s One Utah Summit because of LHMRE’s large economic impact on the state. The real estate division of the Larry H. Miller Company develops and manages real estate assets, such as master-planned communities, townhomes and apartments, as well as commercial development and holdings. The One Utah Summit is Governor Spencer Cox’s bi-annual super summit.

April 26, 2022—Harmons announced the grand opening of a new store in Daybreak. This newest Harmons Neighborhood Grocer marks an incredible milestone as the 20th location in Utah.

April 27, 2022—The Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation announced a $3 million endowed gift, which will create a perpetual directorship at the Utah Valley University Center for Constitutional Studies.
