September 2, 2021—Now that Arizona children are back in school, local food banks are seeing a spike in demand as many parents are spread thin financially, purchasing school supplies and other back-to-school expenses. Larry H. Miller Dealerships announced a partnership with two of Arizona’s largest food banks, St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona in Tucson, on a month-long “Food Fuels Learning” campaign, which will help children who are back in the classroom with the food they need for academic success.
Sept. 6, 2021—Salt Lake Bees reliever Ben Rowen was selected as the Triple-A West Pitcher of the Week as announced by Minor League Baseball. In three appearances during the week Rowen pitched six innings and allowed a single unearned run on no hits and one walk.
September 9, 2021—The Salt Lake Bees raised money for Huntsman Cancer Institute with “Go Gold Strikeout Childhood Cancer” Night on Friday night at Smith’s Ballpark. The awareness campaign and fundraising took place during the game against the Oklahoma City Dodgers.
September 11, 2021—In honor of the 20th anniversary of September 11 and Day of Service and Remembrance, employees at the Jordan Commons campus conducted a week-long Driven to Assist food and clothing drive to benefit Utah Food Bank and Shelter the Homeless. Community members donated at Smith’s Ballpark throughout the day on September 11 and received ticket vouchers to a Bees game.
