Another blockbuster year for Megaplex Theatres, 2019 brought top 20 national rankings for more than 35 Hollywood movies. Among the Megaplex hits were Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Jumanji: The Next Level, Frozen 2, and Avengers: Endgame.
Megaplex Theatres at The District was one of a handful of locations in North America chosen to host the 26-hour Star Wars marathon. Nearly 300 avid Star Wars fans celebrated the nine-episode adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and other beloved characters one after another before seeing Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker for the first time.
The Megaplex team finished the LHM Year of the Guest in epic fashion with the busiest week in Megaplex Theatres history. In the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day, Megaplex team members served more than 400,000 guests across all 16 locations in Utah and Nevada.
Exceptional guest service helped Alec Holgate, a Megaplex team member at Valley Fair, win a trip for two to Disneyland as part of a special beverage contest sponsored by Coca-Cola.
It was another record-breaking year in MegaTub refillable popcorn tub sales that also kept the team busy. Megaplex popped more than 300 million ounces of Orville Redenbacher premium popcorn.
The year also marked the 20th anniversary of the opening of Megaplex Theatres at Jordan Commons. The anniversary celebration included showcasing two of the actual cars that inspired the events depicted in the film Ford v Ferrari, which are part of the Miller vehicle collection.
