Employees from around the Group of Companies demonstrated exactly what it means to be the best place in town to work and the best place to do business while going above and beyond to render service over the past several weeks. The pandemic could not dampen their spirit to lift and serve those around them.
Sometimes, it’s the little things that count. Many employees, like Katrina Lynch (MMC), sent hand-written notes and well-wishes to co-workers while separated due to working from home. Lucy Fay (MEG) created Megaplex Care Packages for all of her furloughed team members. Daniel Matthey (MAO) and Patti Budge (MMC) were praised for working long hours staffing the phones and keeping communication with customers and employees running smoothly throughout the COVID-19 situation. And Morgan Freeman (MEG) used a 3D printer to fashion ear-saving plastic clips for the dealership employees to wear with their masks. Genius!
Speaking of masks, countless employees leapt into action when supplies were low or non-existent. Deb Jones (MAO) started sewing masks at her home and bringing them to the office to share with MAO employees from the very beginning. She and Lindsey Brandol (MAO) also rolled up their sleeves to package masks and supplies. Miller Automotive Operations has distributed over 100,000 masks across the Group! Valerie Mangum (JOC) and her daughter, Felicia Gunn (LHM Fleet Lease) also joined the cause to sew masks for co-workers, and Francina McConkie (MEG) reached out to Sew It Forward to get masks for her Megaplex team.
The acts of kindness extended out to the community as well. Employees at LHM Subaru Boise purchased more than 700 masks and made 100 ear savers for healthcare workers at local Boise-area hospitals. Krista Watts (MFO), Wendy Andersen (MMC), and Andrea Salisbury (MEG) had sewing needles buzzing creating hundreds of masks for community projects, members of the military, families, neighbors, and friends. Gail Miller and her family, along with Kaye Parrish (MMC) and Amara Blackburn (MMC), sewed over 7,500 masks for Intermountain Healthcare’s Project Protect. The employees at Megaplex Theatres in Ogden created YouTube videos of reading stories to share with students in the Ogden School District. And Janae Rios (PFS) gathered much-needed hygiene supplies for the Road Home, benefiting homeless and displaced individuals and families in the Salt Lake City area. “We need a little good during all this bad,” said Janae. We whole-heartedly agree.
These are just a few of the many examples of employees going about doing good at a time when it’s needed most. Thank you!
