The University of Utah Opens Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower

The University of Utah opened Kahlert Village residential community in August 2020. The village features the Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower, which provides residence space for students interested in community engagement.  Due to the pandemic, a tour of this incredible living and learning space for its namesake donors was postponed. A few weeks ago, Gail Miller, Kim Wilson and President Emerita Ruth Watkins were able to tour the residences.

Residents of the Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower will work in collaboration with the Bennion Center, fellow students, and local partners to strengthen communities through learning, scholarship, and advocacy. Residents will have the opportunity to connect their academic knowledge with real-world applications and develop their own civic competencies through community engagement. Residents will explore community engagement opportunities and pathways, develop awareness about justice and equity, and build connections with other students to foster a sense of belonging at the University of Utah.

President Emerita Ruth Watkins, Gail Miller, and Kim Wilson tour the newly-opened Gail Miller Community Engagement Tower at the University of Utah on May 20, 2021.
